The people of Israel and Judah provoked God beyond proportion, and he promised to disown them. Jeremiah prophesied that God’s people have transgressed; they have persisted in their sins, therefore, they will bear consequences of their actions. The man of God prophesied that Israelites would remain subservient to their enemies and suffer till they have repented. Meanwhile, despite the promise of punishment, God also left his room of forgiveness and restoration open for his people. Should the people reverse their behavior, the Creator promised to forgive and restore whatever their have lost.
