April 8 – God Desires Repentance

An act of repentance is not a symbol of cowardice; it is a symbol of honesty to the living God. True and humble people are not ashamed to repent from their sins. They refuse to rejoice in sin but repent from them. Repentant people are also hopeful in God to have the strength needed to overcome future temptations. A prophet confessed his progressive standing with God and declared his hope of a victorious future. The prophet stated,

“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness” (Micah 7:8-9).

Lesson:

God loves people who are humble enough to repent from their sins. He appreciates them for their act of courage to shun evil and pursue righteousness. The scripture emphasized, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). Therefore, children of God must place a high emphasis on repentance of sin. Any child of God who is drifted and fell into sin should repent so that he/she can obtain God’s forgiveness. The Creator is a loving Father, and he will forgive and restore a sinner who repents.

Prayer:

Dear God, I am a sinner, and I am very sorry for my sins. I understand that you are a loving and forgiving God; therefore, I ask you to please forgive my past sins. Please restore unto me the joy of my salvation! Let your Holy Spirit gives me the strength to overcome the enemy’s temptations. Please help me to be strong towards righteousness, and let me be more sensitive to your laws. Please keep me fit to receive your blessings on earth, and in heaven also. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
