IGNORANCE OF THE DEVIL’S DEVICES

RESTORATION TODAY

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
2 Corinthians 2:11.

MESSAGE
Many people engage our memory verse of today in binding and casting the
devil in prayers while the real message of that scripture is lost on many. The devil’s devices are not mainly his acts which are fabricated through his demons and agents but they are mainly our own acts of insensitivity.

You will notice that Paul was talking about forgiveness in the preceding verse of that
scripture (2 Corinthians 2:10) because unforgiveness is a device of the devil. Paul was
therefore saying, he will forgive all in order that Satan might not outwit him. Mark 11:25 notes that when we stand praying, you need to be sure you have forgiven everyone who has wronged you, that is when you can hope to have your prayers answered. This further reinforces Paul’s point.

Brethren, the devices of the devil are not necessarily the demons, witches and wizards that we spend time binding and casting. Rather, the devices of the devil are mainly those ‘little’ repulsive acts to God that the devil ensures we do not pay attention to. Unforgiveness, malice, withholding help from others and pride just to mention a few. Note that we truly have a right to exhibit some of these traits sometimes but we must not be ignorant that they are weapons in the hands of the devil to deny us access to God and deny us answers to our prayers. We must therefore fight them off even when we think we rightly deserve to exhibit them.

ACTION POINT
🖋️ Think about what self-enhancing weapon the devil might be using against you
now (unforgiveness, pride, malice, withholding help from others) and pray to God to deliver you from them.

SCRIPTURES
Mark 11:22-25; 2 Corinthians 2:10-11.

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Father, open the eyes of my heart so that I may perceive the devil’s devices at work in my life and family in Jesus’ name.
  2. Lord, fill me with Your power to deal with every scheme of the devil laying hold on my life.
  3. I declare that I will continually be sensitive and not ignorant of the schemes of Satan.
