Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, failed to conduct her business within her family jurisdiction where she could be protected. She trespassed into gentiles’ zone where they took the advantage to violate her right. The situation caused her brothers to seek for revenge and thereby created more trouble for their family. Jacob’s family had to abandon the comfort of their tents and flee for fear of reprisal from the neighboring towns and villages. Jacob lamented to his disobedient children, “…You have troubled me by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I” (Genesis 34:30).
