October 19 – Express Gratitude To God

God expects us to be appreciative of him for our achievements, and not to boast in flesh. The Creator does not want us to boast about our human abilities and/or material wealth as if we acquired them by our self-efforts. Our achievements are obtained by God’s help, and we must be humble to glorify his name. The scripture taught us to wisely handle our achievements as it is written,

“Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord” (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Lesson:

Believers must understand how to glorify God with their achievements. A child of God must be able to say “I am what I am by the grace of God.” We Christians must understand that God is the brain behind our success. He has brought us this far by his saving strength, and not by our human efforts. Therefore, we must remain grateful to him always. Of course, we can still reference our achievements and be proud of our success, but we ought to always add a phrase that honors God.

Prayer:

Dear God, I thank you for all my achievements. You are the brain behind my success, and without you, I would not be where I am today. You have given me all I have, and without you, I would have acquired nothing! Therefore, I will praise you throughout the days of my life. Please give me the grace to ever be appreciative of your goodness; do not let me be full of myself to arrogate your glory to my human ability. Let my testimony ever lead to the glorification of your name. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
