October 21 – Believe In The Promises Of God

The scriptures warned us not to trust arms of flesh – for they will fail. We are challenged to reserve our trust in God who never fails. It is written,

“Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit” Jeremiah 17:5-8).

Lesson:

Humans are not perfect, but God is perfect; therefore, children of God are encouraged to place their absolute trust in God only. God has no fallible nature, but human has. A person may change his mind at any time; he/she may simply fail. Worse still, a person trusted may die. However, God keeps promises, and he lives forever. He has final authority over all things. His words are absolute, and no one dares to challenge him. He has the scriptures full of his promises for his children. His promising voice can even be heard in Jeremiah 29:11 (For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope). Therefore, believers should affirm their trust in God. We should be bold towards his promises and claim them to our lives – for having peace, prosperity, and the rest!

Prayer:

Dear God, you are the only being in existence that never fails. Any other person on earth may fail; therefore, my complete trust will be placed in you only. I swear my allegiance to serving you, and trusting you over all my needs. Let my faith align with my confession always, and let it be easy for me to declare, “I know my God whom I serve, and he shall deliver me from all troubles and meet my needs!” Please satisfy all my needs, and let me have the testimony of your goodness to share with others. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
