October 23 – Be Humble

All people are nothing but breakable clay in the hands of their potter. God is the potter and we are the clay. He has autonomous power over us; he is the maker of the universe, and all things submit to him. God stated in the scripture,

“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel!” (Jeremiah 18:6).

Lesson:

We human beings are not all-in-all, but God is. We are subject to him, and he has the final authority over us. We are not allowed to do whatever we like unless they satisfy the Creator. We are required to revere him with honor and obey his commandments so that we can prosper.

Prayer:

Dear God, please keep me humble before you, and let me reverence you with dignity and honor. Do not let me be full of myself and disrespect you in any way. Since you are the potter and I am the clay, let me yield to your instructions so that I can prosper in all my ways. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
