Paul asked his fellow Christians to support him in prayers so that he could have the strength needed to keep propagating the gospel. Paul requested,
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak” (Colossians 4:2-4).
Lesson:
Prayer is an effective tool to obtaining victory. Believers should pray always to live happily and triumphantly. Meanwhile, our prayers should not only focus on personal needs, but we should also cultivate a habit of praying for God’s strength to keep serving him faithfully. Indeed, we need God’s strength to continue serving God! When we pray, Holy Spirit will occupy our mind and boost our energy to stand uprightly for God. Also, prayer will strengthen our faith to confidently preach the gospel. We would be able to withstand temptations, and we would be empowered to do justly. In addition, prayer is needed to aid gospel evangelization that convinces unbelievers to accept the lordship of Jesus Christ into their lives.
Prayer:
Dear God, please teach me how to pray! Help me to pray acceptable prayers in your sight. Let my prayers generate positive results. Help me to daily pray for strength and stability in faith. Let my prayers result in my edification and the edification of my brethren. Also, let prayer strengthen me to be a soul winner for your kingdom. Let me be empowered to preach the irresistible gospel and be a soul winner for your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
