I Heard a Voice Calling

I heard a voice calling.

A voice called and echoed in my hearings, saying, “Son, where are you?”

I said, Lord, I’m here, but I’m “no good” for you, Lord.

“What do you mean?” the voice said.

I’m not clean – too dirty for you, Lord.

The voice whispered: 

“You said that, but not me!”

You’re dirty, but not too dirty for me!

I’m an expert cleaner. 

I’ve cleaned more dirty people, so you’re too easy for me.

Come, I will clean you!

I mumbled:

Lord, you mean I can still mean something to someone?

Of course, yes, indeed! The still small voice responded.

I won’t judge you based on the past.

I will accept and
