God instructed Israelites to use a rare tactic to defeat Jericho City. They must march around the fortified walls of the city for six days in silence, and blow trumpets with great shout during their last march on the seventh day. God said to Joshua – the Israelites leader,
“See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him” (Joshua 6:2-5). Israelites carried out the tactic as instructed, and it worked. The walls of Jericho fell, and they were able to defeat its dwellers (Joshua 6:20-21)
Lesson:
God is plentiful in wisdom, and he can use some unimaginable tactics and circumstances to bless his children. Just as he did during bible time, Jehovah can sometimes ask his children to take actions that are completely senseless, yet they will result in their ultimate blessings. However, children of God still have to be spiritually sensitive to tap into the Creator’s blessings. Believers must be sensitive in the Holy Spirit to understand his mind, or else they might act wrongly or even fail to act at all. For any believer to be sensitive in the Holy Spirit, he/she must live a prayerful life, and consistently study his/her bible. Also, a believer intending to operate under God’s divine leadership must be determined to live a disciplined life. He/she must have consistently formed a habit of following God’s leading (over whatever considered as small and big matters). The more a person is conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit, the better he/she will follow his guidance to operate rightly, and thereby become successful.
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to be sensitive in the Holy Ghost to follow your guidance for my life. Help me to yield my complete life to you. Let me make it a constant practice to follow your instructions in every aspect of life so that I can prosper and enjoy your overwhelming goodness throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
