JESUS COMMANDED HIS DISCIPLES TO PREACH THE GOSPEL – Luke 9

Luke – The Gospel – Commission for Christians

(Passage: Luke 9)
The preaching of the gospel is not optional for the believers of Jesus Christ. They are tasked to preach the word of God both far and wide to make Christ known and for people through the world to be saved.

The Lord Jesus Christ tasked his followers to preach the gospel to all people.

During his time on earth, Christ sent out his disciples to preach; he empowered them with the Holy Spirit to prosper in their spiritual activities. Those believers, as they obeyed Christ, prospered. They perform signs and wonders to witness the power of God unto people’s salvation.

Luke reported,

“Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” (Luke 9:1-3).

The Name of Jesus Is Effective for Evangelism; Preach the Gospel!

Christians to take advantage of the authority consisted in the name of Jesus Christ to preach the effective gospel and prosper.  Our obedience will make a significant impact for the kingdom of God.

Jesus, the Son of God, has the highest authority that ever existed. The scripture expressed the magnitude of Jesus’ power and said,

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father(Philippians 2:9-11).

Believers have the backing of God on the mission to lead other people to Christ. We are called to priotize this task since God has said the end is very near.

Christ came and preached that the “Kingdom of God is at hand”- meaning that the end will come sooner than many people would have imagined.

The followers of Jesus Christ in the mission to expand the kingdom of God should not be afraid of what might come their ways. Persecusion, and others, Christ has said that he will help us overcome.

Besides, those who prioritize the gospel will be rewarded in God’s kingdom. Nothing you do for God in the form of gospel evangelism that God won’t reward in the end.

Jesus Christ shared his power and privilege with his followers. He said,

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen! (Matthew 28:19-20).
