December 22 – Christian Leaders Need To Lead By Example

Anyone who desires to be a church leader must first of all be responsible at home. His (or her) life must be relevant to his family, before considering leading any church office. The scripture stated,

“This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil” (1 Timothy 3:1-7).

Lesson:

Christian leaders must be responsible and lead by example. Since charity begins at home, a gospel minister must first be responsible in his (or her) personal life: He must be a responsible spouse and parent. He must be held with high esteem in his family. Anyone who considers the honor of a church leader must have a reputation among his peers, and he must lead by example. Besides, a church leader must understand the concept of the bible, and be ready to give it a clear and contrite interpretation. He must be ready to share the gospel in truth and walk in the integrity of his heart. It is understood that some people mistakenly follow their church leaders more than they follow Jesus Christ himself; hence, the challenge of such a leader leading by godly example is paramount! Church members must not derail into the pitfall of hellfire! Therefore, every church leader and those who minister in other capacities must ensure to make a decisive effort that will positively influence their members/followers/protege, so that God’s name can be glorified in their lives.

Prayer:

Dear God, please help our church leaders to lead by example so that members can be faithful to you. Help our leaders to lead by example! Let them be people of integrity that sincerely promote your interest in people’s lives. Please help your servants to be strong from home, so that they can have enough momentum to positively impact others. Anoint your servants with grace to promote the undiluted gospel in this corrupted world! Let them be filled with the Holy Spirit to have power and boldness to preach the fundamental truth of the bible so that your name can be praised, and for people to make it to heaven. Please do these things and many more. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
