Haman plotted to kill Mordecai at the same time that God was determined to promote him. God’s will prevailed over Mordecai; he was promoted, but his enemy Haman was ridiculed and killed. (Haman was killed for the sake of Mordecai and other Jews). The scripture reported,
“That night the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. And it was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, the doorkeepers who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. Then the king said, “What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” And the king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.” So the king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king’s palace to suggest that the king hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.” (Unfortunately, the game changed for Haman)…Haman naively suggested, “Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’” Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken” (Esther 6:1-4; 6:9-10).
Lesson:
God’s protection over his children will not fail under whatever circumstance. Enemies of God’s children will be put to shame. They will be ashamed of their evil works and be ridiculed. Meanwhile, God’s children will sail unto victory in all circumstances. They will not be ashamed during a confrontation. Since God’s children dwell under divine grace, they will have renewed energy to bring more praises to God’s name. Christians have nothing to lose for serving God; they will forever live overcomers’ lives! The scripture assured, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
Prayer:
Dear God, please give me your enabling grace to remain your faithful child so that I can continue to enjoy your divine grace and protection. Beat down my enemies until they are ashamed, and let me exercise victory over them! Let your goodness be abundant in my life, and let me forever enjoy your benefits in the land of the living. Please set your angels to keep their watch over me so that I can forever live under your pavilion! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
