No one should consider repentance as an act of cowardice; it is a show of strength and a symbol of humility! People who are humble are those who are not ashamed of their sins to repent from them. People who repent from their sins are those who are courageous. They prove honesty and display their total dependence on God to help them overcome future temptations. One prophet in the bible is an example of this. He confessed his progressive standing with God and declared his hope for a victorious future. The prophet stated,
“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness” (Micah 7:8-9).
Lesson:
True humility touches the heart of God. He loves those who are humble enough to confess their sins and repent from them. Meanwhile, God hates people who stubbornly hold on to their sins. The scripture emphasized, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). Therefore, children of God must understand the meaning of repentance and exercise it. A believer who drifted into sin should repent from it so that he or she can receive God’s forgiveness and restoration.
Prayer:
Dear God, I am a sinner, and I am very sorry for my sins. I understand you are a loving and forgiving God; therefore, I ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive my past sins and restore me to the joy of your salvation! Empower me through your Holy Spirit to live a pure and acceptable life before you so that I can qualify for your eternal kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
