Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples to demonstrate humility, and he challenged them to do likewise to others. Christ said,
“You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you” (John 13:13-15).
Lesson:
Believers in Jesus Christ are required to be humble and serve other people. We should not only faithfully serve God, but we should also provide for the needs of other people. Christians should help their fellow believers. It is important that God’s saints work in unity, and we should understand that “whatever incident happens to one believer has happened to all believers!” No Christian should be obsessed with his or her position or needs and consider others to be inferiors. While we cannot all be leaders, we are all called to serve – and we must serve one another diligently. Everyone must honor the true symbol of Christianity – which is love!
Prayer:
Dear Jesus Christ, I receive your grace by faith to love other people genuinely. Help me to support my fellow Christians and make my positive contributions to their lives. Let my interest in people’s success be genuine. Please, let your love dwell richly in my heart from now and always. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
